Links that could help with History

These links can be very helpful in attempting paper 1 and 4. https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/324828-learner-guide-for-cambridge-igcse-history-0470-.pdf (History) http://kearney-history.weebly.com/uploads/3/0/3/4/30349069/treaty_sample_responses.pdf (History-note that although you don’t have 5 7 or 8 markers it can be useful as these questions can come as four six and 10 markers and you can hence use them for reference on how to write them)

To descriptive or to narrative? That is the question

The question I'll try to answer today. It's often a source of confusion for students as to which one is easier, and most often fall into the trap of thinking that writing a story can't be too hard, can it? Well, in IGCSE English Language, it really can and that's why I firmly advocate you do descriptive writing Firstly, a clarification. Sometimes, I guess it's best to keep your options open, but this isn't one of them because descriptives and narratives are pretty much at war

Make sure you get your teacher to mark them so that you know where you're doing well and where you need to improve. Example Candidate Responses - English Language

Hello again! Today, it's the dreader 0500 English Language paper. But fear not - the examiners themselves have decided to help you out (surprising, I know :) ). Here's a pdf of example candidate responses - these are useful for all subjects but English Language and English Literature in particular imo. It contains responses that were actually written by candidates in the past, with examiners providing feedback and a grade for each one. Obviously, you're aiming for the A* resp

History depth study - textbooks

Hey all! So if you're doing IGCSE History and are doing the Depth Study on Nazi Germany, here are a few e-books (in pdf format) that might help you. They're about authoritarian states in general, so you just have to learn the 'Hitler and the Nazis' chapter (or whatever the chapter is called). https://drive.google.com/open?id=1csfnUQqdADpgZUDEp9O7GrxFTAqKcfSc

O-level Tamil advice!

The advice here probably applies to other second languages like Tamil, such as Bengali, Swahili and Nepali. You can find a list of them in the syllabus guide below: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/programmes-and-qualifications/cambridge-o-level-tamil-3226/ This brings me to my first point: the syllabus guide isn't very useful. Actually, it's not useful at all. Plus, there aren't many 'IGCSE-specific' resources online about Tamil (with the exception of tamilcube.com - d

How to write an Economics answer

This series of posts is extremely, extremely important!!! And for good reason too. Personally, I thought that properly structuring an Economics answer was way harder than learning the syllabus content and I think lots of you feel the same way. Particularly with those pesky 8-mark 'discuss' questions, you're geared up ready to write, you know all the points, you put your pen to paper ... but wait ... how do I go about writing the answer? Which points do I write first? In what

Comp Sci Youtube Channel

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay - the burden of school exams :( Anyway, here's a Youtube channel that might help you for Computer Science. It's really well structured because it goes through and decomposes each syllabus statement. It isn't perfect but definitely worth taking a look at. Hope you like it! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrkzHfM5fnDAR2U2LT53sAg

French fancy phrases!

Here's a link to some fantastic phrases that can be used in paper 3 (well, I guess the oral doesn't count as a paper, but anyway ...) and paper 4 to wow over the examiner and get you the high A* that you deserve. Learn them and they can be used practically everywhere (but don't overdo it obviously!). Some of them also use cool and exotic tenses like the subjunctive (le subjonctif) and the gerund (le gerondif) for extra impact on the already mind-blown examiner. I was too lazy

I'm sure most of you are sick and tired of visiting the CIE IGCSE English Literature (0486) mark schemes and seeing the same marking criterion over and over again.
