Dead in Vinland

My Humble Monthly, oops sorry, my Humble Choice for December included a game I probably would have never come across and certainly wouldn’t have tried if it wasn’t for getting these monthly games and starting this blog. Dead in Vinland is an RPG, survival, turned-based strategy, camp building, management game. I usually wouldn’t have tried a game like this. While I love all those game elements, together seems like much work for little reward or enjoyment. Was I wrong! You are

Craft the World

Craft the world is a mixture of a lot of significant game elements. It is a sandbox strategy and fortress builder with lots of gathering and crafting items. The world is open and vast if you dig down. You are controlling dwarves after all, and they are most at home within the earth and exploring all the riches to be had. That doesn’t mean it is without danger, the world is full of it, and it is worse at night. The game has been out a while, but the developer continues to add

Graveyard Keeper

Graveyard Keep is a sandbox roleplaying game that has a lot of crafting and simulation elements in a beautiful pixel graphics world that is in a medieval or dark age period. Where you are shunned for thinking the world may be round, or the thought of the average person learning to read is laughable. For the most part, you can do what you want, when you want to. You can have up to seven storylines going at once, one for each day of the week plus your own since the world has si

Project Highrise

Project Highrise is a “construction simulation” game. I use quotes because that is one of the smaller aspects of the game. It is so much more than that. Of course, it is a construction simulation where you are constructing a new building that eventually, hopefully, become a skyscraper. The next is building management, as you must keep your building running smoothly with maintenance and amenities for your tenants. Then it is like a marketing or real estate management because y

Serial Cleaner

Serial Cleaner is a 2D stealth action game where you must clean up murder scenes on contract back in the 1970s. And a professional cleaner doesn’t get caught. Every crime scene is a puzzle that changes each time you get caught, so don’t bother memorizing your actions, the items/bodies may not be in the same place after you get caught. The puzzles get harder through the contracts. While you can probably outrun most of the police to a hiding place, in the beginning, the police

Lethis: Path to Progress

Lethis: Path to Progress is a city builder game set in a Victorian Steampunk era. It is beautiful and smart with its art and building types. The art is fantastic, and the animations on each building are different and creative. My favorite building was probably the greenhouse because it reminded me of Little Shop of Horrors, “Feed me, Seymour.” However, that alone is not enough to keep me interested in the long run. The resource management aspect of the game does come up with
