Friday is Climate Strike Day!

Want to get involved in our area? Here's where you can go:

2:30 pm to 3:30 pm: rally outside the Grey Highlands municipal office in Markdale. Folks who then want to travel on the the 4:30 pm climate strike rally in Owen Sound can car-pool from there the "big city rally".

4:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Friday September 27: rally outside the Bicycle Cafe in downtown Flesherton, at which we hope to convert (politely) a gazillion passing Highway 10 motorists (and passersby on foot) to the cause of addressing climate change. In addition to these rallies, the following upcoming events would be enriched by your presence:

4:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Friday September 27: Climate Strike rally in front of the Owen Sound City Hall, in support of climate-striking students.

Other Events of Interest:

7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Thursday September 26: All-Candidates Meeting sponsored by the Grey Highlands Chamber of Commerce, to be held at the Centre Grey Complex (arena etc.), Upper Level. in Markdale. Although the event is not specifically climate-focused, two of the questions posed to candidates in advance have climate implications: "What federal policies are in place, or should be in place, to make sure that carbon tax revenues are actually helping to reduce carbon emissions?" and "Canada's agricultural food industry drives our national economy. What would you work on to help Grey Highlands farmers be more sustainable?"

6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday October 4: Climate Change Information Night at the Harmony Centre, Owen Sound, sponsored by the Youth Climate Action Team. Youth of all ages as well as parents are welcome: there will be refreshments.

Saturday evening, September 28, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm: Although it has nothing to do with climate change, you might be interested in Markdale is Rad, a celebration of Markdale past, present and future, to be held on all along Main Street in Markdale.
