DGW joins witchcliffe ecovillage

I am super excited to announce Dogs Go Woof Productions is joining the Witchcliffe Eco-village project to curate the video content and share what it's all about. The ecovillage is located in the south-west of Western Australia, joining the town of Witchcliffe and is set to be world's most sustainable village. Everything from food, energy and water will be completely designed in with the ambition to become 100% self-sustainable entirely in the village - So, it's pretty darn ex

Noongar Spring: Djilba Season

Djilba is one of the six seasons in the Noongar (Local Indigenous) calendar, which more accurately describes the changes throughout the South West region of Australia, than the European four seasons. I was introduced to the seasons through a local indigenous artist Shane Hansen (Yondee) who we shot some scenes with for a film about a year ago. His knowledge of the land and connection to it, opened my mind up to the richness of this country's ancestry and since then, I've felt

The Milkyway

We've been having an un-seasonally fine week here in Perth with sunny days and clear skies in the middle of winter so, I thought I'd take advantage of the clear skies and try out some astro-photography. I hadn't looked at the galaxy in a long time and taking time to sit back and see it, gave me a unique perspective on how lucky we really are. One thing that is unique about astro-photography is you need to expose your shot for at least 25 seconds and a photo would take a minut

EP 4. David Holmgren: The needle in the haystack

They day was ending as I drove back to Meg & Patrick's place in Daylesford. I was thinking in roundabouts about what David and I had talked about. I was having doubts about whether I had enough content to explain Permaculture in a way that I believe would be truly compelling. See previous post here. Once an interview is all done and dusted, usually you just feel it and you know you've got what you need, but this time it was fuzzy and I was unsure. I got back to 'The Permie L

Ep 3: Interview with David Holmgren

When we started the interview, I didn't expect it to turn out the how it did. After meeting with David (see previous post) he agreed to begin the interview that same day. I was a bit concerned as we had a lot to talk about and I didn't want him to become too fatigued with only half the day left. I knew some of my questions would be personal and thought provoking and can take time to flesh out, so I wanted to allow enough time for it to unravel naturally, but time was not in

Day 2: meeting David Holmgren

Today was an anxiously exciting day. This was going to be the first time I was going to meet the Co-Founder of Permaculture, David Holmgren who is going to be the backbone of the film I'm making; Permaculture The Documentary. A lot was riding on this meeting. For one, the only time I had to speak with David was a very brief period of an hour over Skype that I had weeks before I flew over, and the second; I really wanted him to be the backbone of this film, sort of a narrati

Day 1 Shooting: Getting to Daylesford

On March 9th at 3am I dragged myself out of bed, got dressed and stacked my suitcases outside, ready for the adventure to shoot the first scene for Permaculture the Documentary. 3 hours later and I was flying from Perth, Western Australia to Melbourne, Victoria where would be my destination to meet David Holmgren, the co-founder of Permaculture. Arriving in Melbourne, I collected my 3 bags, jumped in a hire car and started my hour and half journey towards Daylesford. I was k

A new film: The Soil Food Web

After reading and watching workshops of Dr. Elaine Ingham's work, it has opened up a can of worms when it comes to understanding soil. If what she is saying is true, it means everything that we thoughts every plant needs to grow, is actually already in every soil around the world, you just need the biology to make it available. This is very exciting, as not only does it explain how nature is able to grow forests and plants all over the globe, but it means we can grow our food

We have a new camera!

That's right, we have a new camera, the Canon C300 Mkii, for those playing at home. It is a camera that we've been wanting to use to shoot Permaculture The Documentary. One of the biggest hurdles when it comes to producing a film is making sure everything is to standard so that it can be broadcast, projected on the big screen with no problems and this camera does exactly that! This means we now have all the equipment necessary to start shooting!! We are so excited! It's been
