The Home Stretch

So at the point when I feel my body can’t stretch any more, my feet can’t possibly get any bigger and the tiredness surely is at a peak, I am waving goodbye to the office job for another year. It’s a weird feeling this time round – last time I was finishing the end of a contract so wasn’t going back to the same role, I was leaving London life, I somehow needed to complete on our new house between the start of maternity leave and my due date and I had literally no idea how muc

Toddler tantrums, torturous temperatures and the third trimester

Well, has ever a list sounded more appealing?? Any one of these items would be somewhat ‘unpleasant’ on any given day but I have to say (and this is in no way a ‘woe is me’ blog), dealing with the three simultaneously, every day, for weeks, has been…how do I put this…testing? “Ohhh so you’ll be 9 months pregnant in July. Good luck.” Wrapped up in a coat in January/February I simply brushed off this frequent observation. I mean, how bad could it really be? I thought back to th

Nesting Necessities

So we’ve all heard about the tendency women have to nest when they are pregnant. Last week at work a baby bird flew into my window and dropped to the ground. Now don’t get me wrong, I am an animal lover, but I went into total overdrive to try and protect this bird and before I knew it I was building him an actual nest to recover. Talk about nesting instincts! It made me think about all the nesting instincts I’ve been experiencing lately and with my first pregnancy and whether

The Mini-'break'

About 2 and a half months before Molly was born we went on the obligatory ‘baby-moon’. The important break away with your partner before the impending arrival of a small creature who is about to take over your lives forever more. Time to put your feet up, time to relax, go for a massage and time to gaze into each other’s eyes over a romantic meal and half a glass of bubbles (all I really allowed myself to drink during my first pregnancy – per week, and only in the last trimes

The Part-time Mum

We’ve all heard the saying; “Mothers are expected to work like they don’t have children and have children like they don’t work.” In a time where feminism and equality is making such headway, it would be easy to say this is no longer as true, but with women striding out in the workplace, it in fact makes this statement even truer. And it’s bloody hard work. When I went on maternity leave with Molly, I made the decision to leave the London agency life behind having spent 11 yea

That Pregnancy Glow

When I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I was of course over the moon. Not just because I was growing a tiny miracle (and one that I had always prayed would happen for us one day), but because I was actually looking forward to the pregnancy too. I know, how naïve. I was working in a young vibrant marketing agency in London and it was July. Glorious. Sure, I was gutted that summer drinking was over for me (and racked with the slight guilt of having not realised I was
