Volusia County is home to over 900 Licensed Massage Therapists. That means there are that many different kinds of massage because there are no 2 therapists who have exactly the same training. Styles, techniques, and even definitions of common industry terms can differ among professionals.
We want to introduce you to us - what we do, how we do it, and why- so you can make an educated choice about an important healthcare option.
Every piece of advertising about massage will tell you about how massage lowers blood pressure, helps with insomnia, pain relief, and winning the lottery. Massage does help a lot of conditions and we can help you understand how and why.
Our goal is to help people dealing with pain and/or swelling issues with techniques gained through decades of medical massage experience. The techniques we use depend on what is going on when you come in and what your goals for the session are, so we don’t bother with labeling our treatments ‘Deep Tissue,’ ‘Medical,’ or anything else, except for Manual Lymph Drainage (and that’s because Raquel is the MLD guru). You are going to get the best of our experience every time. Our practice is strictly old school hands on – there are no hot stones, bamboo sticks, or trendy techniques. Why do we do it this way? We focus on knowing how the body works and being able to explain to you why we do what we do and how it affects you long term.
So, if you have a frozen shoulder, sciatica, or plantar fasciitis - we are the LMTs for you. If you have what seems like abnormal swelling in the limbs or torso; really bad allergies, or are having problems with constipation or bloating – we are the LMTs for you. If you are looking just to relax or have a spa experience, there are great therapists in town who can give you exactly that, but as one of our patients recently said ‘If you don’t hurt, don’t book an appointment here; but if you are hurting, book your session right now.’
