Tinctures are one way to calm yourself down and relax. A tincture is a mix of herbs and vegetable glycerin. But if you get it from the store it can be more than just herbs and vegetable glycerin, it can be some unhealthy ingredients that you wouldn’t even know that it’s bad for you. This is why I would strongly suggest making your own tincture.
I learned how to make tinctures with Mycelium Youth Network. I made a tincture with rose, lavender, St. John’s wort, and damiana which is good for relaxing and helps with depression. I chose these herbs because of their medicinal properties. They also smelled delicious all together and are actually very beautiful plants.
What you’ll need:
Dry herbs (Such as: rose, lavender, Saint John’s wort, etc.)
Reusable glass jar (No plastic because we need to save the environment)
Spoon (to mix tincture)
Choose one or more herbs to put in your tincture. Some examples are rose, lavender, Saint John’s wort and others. (I included a link describing which herbs with healing properties at the bottom) If the herbs are still on the stem, take the herb off and put them in the jar making sure to wash all your herbs first!
After putting the herbs in the jar make sure that you used all the parts you can use. Let’s not waste anything! Then, pour 1 or 2 cups of vegetable glycerin into the container.(depending on the amount of herbs) After making sure that all of the glycerin goes into the container, seal the jar and shake thoroughly. Then, take the top off and stir the tincture.
Before using tincture, put it in your fridge and wait for at least 24 hours. And finally, use a strainer to get the herbs out because it has soaked in. And then enjoy your tincture!!!!
