We were so lucky to have Vivian join us for our workshop this weekend. With careful planning, her mother and I were able to coordinate with Vivian's college Fall Break. We started our workshop off with a "Q&A session" filled with questions that our students came up with to ask Vivian about college. We learned so much and we're especially happy to know that Vivian is loving her freshman year so far at Smith College! Next, students shared their songs for one another and then we played a fun theory game, testing our rhythm skills. Since my son, Bill, is taking drum lessons, I decided to have him play some challenging rhythms on the drums while the students listened and chose their selection off the poster. The poster had several similar rhythm sets which students had to carefully listen and choose which one Bill played. Bill did an excellent job and the students had a fun time testing their aural theory skills! Before we had pizza, students created their own pumpkins to decorate our piano wall. We are definitely in the Halloween spirit!! Lastly, a huge special thanks to Ashton for sharing his delicious homemade applesauce with me!! :)

Congratulations, Vivian! This weekend we surprised Vivian with a farewell party, celebrating her years at The Piano Room. Vivian has been a student of mine since she was just 6 years old and has grown with me and my family over the past years! Throughout the years, we shared many exciting milestones together and it has been honor teaching and watching Vivian become the beautiful, remarkable young woman that she is. Vivian has been an absolute joy to teach, always coming to her lessons with a smile, radiating her positive energy. She has been a trusted role model for all the students and we certainly will miss her. We wish her all the best at Smith College and can't wait to see her on her breaks!! Below you will find some pictures from her party and a slideshow showcasing Vivian's years at The Piano Room. Enjoy!

Summer is officially here and the students at the Piano Room are definitely excited! We kicked off the summer with a workshop filled with fun! Emma's student, Ashton, joined us for the afternoon and all the students welcomed Ashton right into the group. :) After performing their prepared songs, students broke into groups to improvise their own arrangements of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Creativity was in full swing and the students had so much fun!
