Homemade Guacamole

One of my favorite ways to get healthy fats in my diet is guacamole. Avocados are very nutrient dense, but I don't care for them plain. (Gasp! I know.) In my humble opinion my homemade version is better than any restaurant version, but I'll let you be the judge.

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • Avocados (obviously)- I usually use 2 if I'm making it for myself, but feel free to double, triple, or quadruple.

  • 1/2 chopped red onion (or green onion)

  • 1-2 finely diced jalapenos depending on your heat level preference

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • 1/4-1/2 tsp of salt- I like pink himalayan salt

  • 1/4 tsp of pepper

  • 1/4 chili powder

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

 

 

 

Instructions:

  1. With a sharp knife cut around the avocado length-wise down to the pit.

  2. Twist each half of half in opposite directions to open.

  3. Carefully remove the pit.

  4. Using your knife score the meat of the avocado length-wife and then width-wise to create cubes.

  5. Using a spoon scoop out the meat.

  6. Add all of your ingredients and mash with a fork until it reaches desired consistency.

That's it! You can add extra ingredients like chopped tomatoes or bell peppers. Options to dip include plantain chips, carrots, bell pepper slices, Siete Grain Free Tortilla Chips, corn tortilla chips, etc. Use it top a burger or on top of a salad to add satiating fat.
