How I made $12,000 Working Only 1 Hour a day, 5 days a week in 8 weeks

This is how I started my Afterschool Enrichment Class Business

When my son started elementary school, I noticed a lot of fun one-hour afterschool enrichment classes his school was offering right after school dismissal. My son and I both LOVED these afterschool enrichment classes. They were on school grounds, which meant I did not have to drive him to the classes. All he had to do was to walk to the fun class I had signed him up for after the last bell rang. My son really enjoyed these afterschool enrichment classes because they were fun and engaging and I loved these classes because it gave me an extra hour to work from home.

Throughout his years in elementary school, my son signed up for a long list of fun and engaging afterschool enrichment classes offered from private companies at his elementary school. Mad Science, Art, Chess, Tennis, Clay Adventure, Bricks 4 kidz (LEGO), Volleyball, and Young Chefs are part of the long list of classes I signed him up for. Some classes such as Mad Science, he loved so much he took them several times.

My son really enjoyed making crafts in Preschool and Kindergarten, but sadly the teachers at his elementary school stopped making crafts with the kids after 1st grade. When my son was in 3rd grade, I was looking to start a second business that would not occupy too much of my time with a low startup cost. Starting a “Crafts” Afterschool enrichment class at my son’s school seemed like a perfect fit.

I had 18 students signed up for my first “crafts” class, and I made an easy $2,160. My class was $120 per child for 8 classes once a week. I only worked for one-hour on Mondays for 8 weeks and made $2,160 with a very low startup cost. That’s when I decided to expand and offer my class to other elementary schools within my neighborhood.

To my surprise, a whopping 27 kids signed up for my craft class in the second school I taught. This was a much larger elementary school, and they only offered afterschool enrichment classes on Wednesdays, which was a minimum day (early dismissal) in my school district. Afterschool classes were a real treat for the kids in this school since they were only offered once a week. I was among 8 other vendors offering a variety of fun classes for the kids to choose from.

My participation rate was so high at this school that they had to confirm I was willing to accept 27 kids in my class! I hesitated at first, since I wasn’t sure if I could handle these many students, but I went for it and said YES, I can take up to 30 students. I immediately hired an employee to help me teach this class. I made $3,240 from this one school and only worked one-hour on Wednesdays for 8 weeks.

I then started to offer my classes to other schools. By the second semester I was teaching 5 classes per week at 5 different schools. I made $12,000 in 8 weeks for working only an hour a day, 5 days a week. My classes were $120 per student for 8 weeks.

In my second year, I decided to expand and hire more employees. I trained them and offered my craft class to multiple schools each day. I covered about 10 schools per week and made $20,000 in 8 weeks.

I really enjoy teaching my classes. It’s such a joy working with kids, especially when they are having fun in your class. My classes are mostly held at the schools’ lunch tables, and seeing the kids run to my craft tables with such excitement and huge smiles really brightens my day.

Many of my friends and family members asked me to teach them how to start their own Afterschool Enrichment class. That’s when I decided to create an online tutorial. If you are a Mom, just like me and would like to start a business of your own with very little money, which can help pay the bills and not occupy a lot of your time; starting an afterschool enrichment class could be a great fit for you and your family. If you would like to start an afterschool enrichment class at your local schools, and don’t know where to start, I can teach you, how I started my class and the steps I took to succeed.
