DSFederal was awarded a $15M task order to provide administrative and technical support to the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), a subordinate laboratory under the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, the company announced today. USAMRIID is the Nation’s leading biodefense research Institute focused on developing medical solutions to biological threats.

Nearly 50 staff members will support a wide range of USAMRIID organizations, including the Science Directorates, which is directly responsible for researching biological threats and investigating disease outbreaks. The team will also support the Office of the Commander, the Biosecurity Directorate, and the Administration Directorate to provide program analysis, financial management, logistics, and other technical and administrative tasks.

Building upon DSFederal’s expansive presence within 22 health and biomedical research organizations, the contract marks the company’s first major project within USAMRIID since winning a spot on the $250 million IDIQ vehicle in November. DSFederal also recently won a $4 million IT systems consolidation project supporting the Army Research Laboratory.

“Since 2010, we have supported and improved the processes and technologies that power biomedical research and ultimately improve public health,” said CEO Sophia Parker in a statement. “Starting with our support for NIH’s Peer Review process and now for USAMRIID, we are honored to support these premier research organizations and contribute toward making the world a better place.”
