• The Chatel Snow Report

26/02/2019: Today's Updates... 5.55pm...

5.55pm:

Beautiful weather again today with really warm sunshine. It was so warm that butterflies were flying about on Barbossine! Incredible for February.

The snow has been very resilient on many pistes, with many having enough snow to last the rest of the season, however, in the village we have lost alot of the snow that fell in January and at the beginning of February. Below is a shot on the Chemin du Ryz, at the top of the village showing the lane on the 5th Feb, in comparison with today.

10.00am:

With the sun shining gloriously again this morning, a glance ahead at the precipitation event on Friday is resulting in mixed outcomes, depending on which model you look at. At the moment, it looks as though some useful accumulations are possible, but, below is Arpege's potentially rather optimistic view of the event, with 40cm+ being shown for the higher areas. This looks to be a less likely scenario at the moment, but it is interesting that this model is obviously picking up a signal for more in the way of precipitation in comparison to the other models.

7.00am:

Bonjour - it is clear again this morning with temperatures of around -2c in, and just below, the village.

Updates will appear on this page today and the forecast page is expected to be updated

towards 7.30am this morning.

How you can help this season... you will notice on some pages that there is a PayPal tip/donation box, eg on the "About Us" page, where you can send us a tip, if you like what we are doing. There is no obligation to do so, but any donations will help the running costs of this site during the winter season. The more people who help, the better we can make this site.
