A Little Marshmallow Surprise

The very first blog post for Marshmallow Photography should probably be all about a newborn or family photography shoot, showing you examples of my work (which I really hope you’d love), or talking you though what to wear on your photo shoot. Instead I’m talking about something that’s a lot more personal to me, but which I wanted to share with you all.

We’ve been keeping a little secret for around 20 weeks now… Can you guess what?

A Little Marshmallow Surprise

Marshmallow number 2 is on the way and due for delivery in the middle of October - eeeeekkk!

I’m not going to lie, this pregnancy has so far been much harder than my first. In particular trying to juggle a toddler and a new business start-up, as well as the general and constant struggle of housework, washing, cooking etc… It’s been tough! But, we wouldn’t change it for the world and we are so extremely happy and feel so blessed to have our new Marshmallow on the way.

What’s made this pregnancy even more special is how my little Marshmallow has responded to my growing bump and his excitement at becoming a big brother to his baby SISTER! Yes, it’s a girl!! YAY!

My pregnancy means I’ll be having a little time off for maternity leave come October, however it doesn't mean you'll stop hearing from me as I'll have a new little Marshmallow with whom to practice my skills and try new styles and techniques. Be prepared in the upcoming months to also see a few ‘selfies’ of my growing Marshmallow bump and maybe a few with the rest of the Marshmallow team too!

Pregnancy Selfies and Camera Confidence

Having your photograph taken by a professional photographer can be daunting and feel very uncomfortable - trust me, I feel exactly the same! ‘What should I do with my hands? Where should I look? Aaaaarrrggghhh!’. However, I’m trying to practice what I preach and with the assistance of my very lovely and patient husband I’ve put myself in the spotlight and turned the camera on myself to capture this special time.

My first pregnancy saw me feeling the most body confident I’ve ever been in my life; I loved every minute of being pregnant (sickness and all), and worried that I would mourn pregnancy once my Marshmallow had arrived. (This didn’t happen - I was far to busy and completely smitten to think about that!) This time around however, my confidence is pretty low, but I know one day I’ll look back and want to remember just how I looked when I was carrying my little Marshmallow, and perhaps my Marshmallow will also want to see too. I may not feel perfect but my body is doing the most important thing it ever has to do, and for that it’s perfect.

Although it may not always feel like it, pregnancy is such a special but fleeting time, so it’s important to capture those memories so they can be treasured forever.

Here’s me… Perfectly imperfect.
