Aeroasis, the maker of a plug-and-play indoor smart garden, has graduated from the Startup Sandbox and launched independent operations in Santa Cruz, California. The company has already hired ten employees and has aggressive distribution plans in the works.

“Aeroasis is a great success story. They took full advantage our facilities and advisory services. And now they’ve become a part of the Santa Cruz business community. It’s a big win for Aeroasis, Startup Sandbox and Santa Cruz.”

After founding Aeroasis in Florida in 2015, CEO Thomas Wollenberger has driven the company to the forefront of the hydroponic smart gardening movement. Over a year ago, Wollenberger moved his R&D to Santa Cruz, where Aeroasis has spent the last year perfecting and productizing his ideas. During all that time, the company has stayed true to its original mission of empowering people to grow their own food indoors in a compact compartment.

“I originally thought of this idea in Florida, where I’m from and was working. But when it came time to fully develop it, I knew that Startup Sandbox was the only place where I could do it successfully. Their guidance and facilities have been instrumental in launching Aeroasis to such an outstanding start. And now I love living in Santa Cruz and want to contribute to the community by locating the company here.”

The company’s first product is Oasis, an innovative, indoor smart garden that enables people in homes, apartments, restaurants, schools and offices to grow food year-round. The Oasis is fully automated and climate-controlled, has a built-in camera for remote viewing, and can accommodate at least two feet of growth per plant. It includes a mobile app that controls all aspects of plant growth, resulting in 90% less water usage, three times faster plant growth, and over 26 harvests a year.

“Aeroasis is a great success story,” said Lou Pambianco, CEO of the Startup Sandbox. “They took full advantage of our facilities and advisory services. And now they’ve become a part of the Santa Cruz business community. It’s a big win for Aeroasis, Startup Sandbox and Santa Cruz. We are very proud of Aeroasis and wish them all the success in the world.”
