Book Review: WOLF GONE WILD by JULIETTE CROSS

GENRE: Paranormal Romance

AGE: Adult

OFFICIAL BLURB:

What’s the worst thing that can happen to a werewolf? Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz now knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he’s cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.

Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven--no werewolves. They’re known for being moody and volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she’s ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules.

What Evie doesn’t know is that Mateo’s wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she’s in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

MY REVIEW INC. THREE STARS & A WISH

Ever since I got a sneak peek at the first three chapters of this story, I was dying to have the rest, resulting in me constantly checking the date to see if it was time yet! This book was a real page-turner. Between the amazing character personalities, intriguing storyline and deep belly laughs at Mateo's wolf, I couldn't recommend it more. I read this book (inc. forced breaks) in eleven hours!

STARS

  1. The characters: WOW. The depth of each and every one of them had to be my favourite thing about this book. The best part of this was that it wasn't just the main two (or should I say three) characters. The personality shone from the others as well, each one truly a 3D individual with their own backgrounds, likes and dislikes showing through. If I had to pick one... It would be Alpha, Mateo's wolf. He had me in stitches with his straight-forward, crass comments. That wolf knew what he wanted!

  2. The Romance. Ohhhh that slow burn! I genuinely had to control myself from skipping ahead to see what eventuated for the main pair (of course I didn't do it... but it was close). It was a case of two really different characters and personality types coming together in a natural way. The beautifully written dual POV had me knowing things each of the characters didn't and really wanting to spill the beans so they could... you know...

  3. The storyline. I couldn't get enough. I was gripped from the beginning, invested from the great character work and desperately wanting Mateo, Evie, and the Savoie sisters to succeed. The pace and tension built beautifully throughout the story, so much so that I was doing some grumbling of my own when I had to put it down (because you know... life). Juliette did an amazing job of keeping me guessing. The baddie definitely blindsided me in the end!

WISH

If I realllly have to give you something, it would probably be the Star Wars references. I'm admittedly on Mateo's initial side and have not seen them, *cough*, so they did go a little over my head. In saying that, despite my lack of knowledge I could still tell they fit the context of the story really well and made sense with the plot.

So... I guess that's really my problem, not an issue with the book.

Does that mean I get another wish? Cause some lil babies one day would be cute! Hehehe.

MY RECOMMENDATION:

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Go buy this book! Go, go, go! And then hope Juliette magically has book two ready for yesterday, because you'll need to read it like I do!
