I was lucky enough last March to win a Holi Ganesha quilt kit from Laser Cut Quilts.
The kit came with the background fabric and binding as well as all of the pieces laser cut with peelable adhesive backing, kind of like fabric stickers. Also included was a large paper diagram to show where all of the pieces should be placed. Once I had the pieces where I wanted them, I pressed them to adhere them to the fabric.
Next, I stitched around each piece to hold them permanently in place.
For the quilting, I wanted to do something simple because I wanted the elephant to be what really stood out. I decided on a plain meander working in a larger meander outside of the elephant and a smaller one inside the pieces.
I finished up the binding tonight.
It was a fun experience and working only a few hours a day, it took about a week or so to make it from start to finish. I'm so happy with how it turned out. Now, to figure out where to hang it!
