Reaching as many is the important purpose of preaching no matter where and how”- Archbishop

Bangalore, 31-10-2019: The closing of the Extraordinary Mission Month was organized at the Infant Jesus Shrine with a meaningful liturgical celebration. A large crowd and many priests witnessed the occasion and went home with a strong reminder to live as missionaries.

At the beginning of the celebration Archbishop emeritus Most Rev Bernard Moras congratulated the newly elected bishop of Mandya, Rev. Sebastian Adayanthrath.

In his homily, Most Rev Dr Peter Machado the main celebrant of the Eucharist noted, “Our hearts should be imbued with the Gospel to proclaim the same by each one of us being messengers. It’s not important how to preach where to preach, but how many we reach, first preaching the gospel to our own families.”

The archbishop narrated with the concrete missionary examples of St. Francis Xavier, St. Therese of Child Jesus. Elaborating the example of Oscar Luigi a retired teacher from his sick bed started writing post cards inserting bible verses and has sent more than 5,000 post cards and a small saint in his own way. So also every Christian can be also a small missionary. Though the month ends, our missionary journey continues, underscored the Prelate.

A short felicitation program was organized at the end of the mass to congratulate the newly elected bishop of Mandya Rev. Adayanthrath.

Also the Ordo for the liturgical use and the annual report of the Catholic Enquiries Center was released at the ceremony.
