Bailey Cooley had the game-winning hit and earned the win in relief as Trinity Christian Academy Varsity Softball defeated the 5A West Nassau Warriors 7-5 Thursday night in Callahan.

With no outs, the bases loaded, and the score tied 5-5 in the top of the seventh, Cooley laced a pitch deep into left field to drive home Morgan McMillian and Hannah Rivers with the game-winning runs. McMillian singled to open the inning, and Rivers ran for catcher Linzie La Favor, who walked. After Lindsey Smith walked to load the bases, Cooley nearly left the yard with her drive to left.

Conquerors score two in the seventh to win it.

Cooley (W: 11-6, 2.73 ERA) then pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh to complete the win. She entered in relief in the fifth and allowed only one earned run on three hits. She walked two and struck out one, the final batter of the game. McMillian started and pitched four effective innings of four-run ball for Trinity before giving way to Cooley.

Alexis Ross had a two-run triple in the top of the fourth that scored Natalia Burnsed (single) and Breezy Burnett (single) and gave the Conquerors a 3-2 lead after falling behind. Reagan Griffis followed with a run-scoring single to bring in Ross, and Amaya Ross doubled home Griffis for some insurance runs that Trinity ended up needing.

West Nassau fought back from a 5-2 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. A missed play in right field allowed K. Clay and H. Epps to score and pull the Warriors to within a run. Clay then singled home M. Armstrong an inning later to tie the game at 5-5.

Each team scored a run in the first. Trinity's Mackenzie Marrell singled home Amaya Ross (double), and West Nassau's H. Epps (walk) scored on a ground ball error.

Amaya Ross was 2 for 2 with a double, two walks, a run scored, and a run driven in to help pace the Conquerors, who spread nine total hits throughout the lineup, and McMillian hit safely and scored a run while Burnsed did the same to contribute to the win.

The Conquerors (13-6) have only two games remaining in the regular season, both on the same day. On Saturday, April 20, the team travels to Ocala to play 6A Belleview at 1:00 p.m. and 7A Ocala Forest at 3:00 p.m. The team will then have nine days to prepare for the 4A District 2 tournament, which runs from April 29 to May 2 at Trinity Christian Academy.
