Volunteer Recognition Celebration!
Updated: Mar 7
What a fantastic day celebrating our greatest gifts in Scouting - our volunteers - volunteers who give tirelessly of their time, talent and treasure every day for the Mission of Scouting.
We hosted over 250 volunteers at Institute of Religion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the ASU Tempe Campus. We celebrated Council, District and Unit level volunteers, awarding 40 Silver Beaver Awards, 4 Distinguished Service Star and 17 Meritorious Service Star Awards. Those awards recognize, collectively, hundreds of years of dedication and service to the Program.
As our Venturing Officers Association presented the colors, the afternoon got underway while we enjoyed delicious refreshments and clever handmade Scout Centerpieces created by our Event Committee. Thank you, Kay Hauser, for your efforts in designing and setting up.
It was wonderful day to be surrounded by such a large community of volunteers of all ages; families and friends, men, women, children and Scouts supporting and celebrating “WHY WE DO SCOUTING” together. Boy Scouts of America knows no boundaries when it comes to providing the most positive youth development program available and its impact the lives of our youth and the adults who serve them in so many wonderful ways. We thank YOU!
The afternoon concluded by giving a classy “fireside chat” send-off to our Council President, Eric Hiser for his years of leadership and inspiration. We then welcomed Lisa Graham Keegan to take the reins as President which did with energy, enthusiasm and vision.
The future is bright, full of opportunity and possibilities, of which we will continue to stay strong together and grow as GRAND Canyon Council from this day forward. Stay tuned volunteers, families, friends, Scouts . . . the best IS yet to come!
Thank you Volunteers and Families for sharing THIS day together!
